The Ba Football Association has suspended five players from the team, four days out from the Courts Inter District Championship.
“The following players have been suspended until their case is heard: Malakai Tiwa, Narend Rao, Misiwane Nairube, Savenaca Nakalevu and Shaneel Narayan,” stated Ba FA on its official Facebook page.
“We highly promote discipline amongst our players and expect all players to encourage this and if there is any issue, they should raise their grievances with team management to allow due process to take place.”
Ba FA also alleges that after suspension, the players formed a viber group to boycott training. There were also claims on social media that the team in camp was being fed tin fish three times a day. Ba FA has regarded the claims as “baseless and defamatory”.
“Ba FA board invites concerned fans to visit our camp in Nailaga to get evidence, clarification and to speak to our players in camp in regards to their treatment and meals,” the association added.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf confirmed the suspension of five players by Ba.
“We have been notified about their suspension. They will have to go through the disciplinary process of Ba FA and then we will see what transpires,” Yusuf said.
Meanwhile, Ba is pooled with Rewa, Labasa and Lautoka at the Courts IDC, which takes at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. In the opening round next Wednesday, Ba plays Lautoka at 5pm.
In other Super Premier division fixtures on day one, Nadroga faces Nadi at 1pm, Suva takes on Navua at 3pm while in the feature match of day one, Labasa battles Rewa at 7.30pm.
