Torika Valentine took over her mum’s business to support her parents with the back to school shopping.

The 17-year-old used her school holidays to sell cakes and puddings along the Kings Rd at Naimasimasi, Tailevu, to help her parents during these difficult times.

“My dad is working and my mum used to sell cakes and puddings and during this school holidays, I decided to sell so I could buy the remaining stationery that have not been bought by my parents,” she said.

She said her mother started a small business last year to support the family endure the impacts of COVID-19.

“My mum does the baking while I sell all those here along the road and this allows her to rest.

“My mum helps with the shopping expenses at home and every year she provided us with all we needed for school since she was working, so this year I decided to help her in providing us with educational supplies as it will reduce her burden and stress.”
