The Fiji Bati squad for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England will be named next month.

The side will assemble in Australia and spend two weeks together before flying out to England on October 15.

Last week the organisers marked the 100-day countdown to the tournament which will kick off at St James Park in Newcastle on October 23.

In a press statement Fiji National Rugby League acting chief executive officer Don Natabe said with the departure dates announced, the Fiji Bati will now have to look at alternative teams to play before the RLWC.

Natabe welcomed the much-awaited announcement which marked the 100 days to go to the RLWC with the organisers confirming the participating nations.

“We welcome the news of the RLWC going ahead as scheduled,” he said.

“Now rugby league fans in Fiji and around the world can look forward to a vibrant event in October and November.”

Natabe said now they would have to do their best to assemble the best available players to represent the country.

The Fiji Bati will play Australia on October 23 in their opening pool match at the MKM Stadium in Hull.

The side will take on Italy at the Kingston Park in Newcastle on October 30 and then Scotland at the same venue on November 6.
