The Team Fiji women’s rugby 7s side plans to showcase its Fijian fl air during the Tokyo Olympic Games.

As part of the training program, the Saiasi Fuli coached team has been focusing on keeping the  ball alive to apply pressure on the opposition.  According to Fuli, the players have been advised to remain positive and enjoy their game. “It was all part of the plan that we did last year but the tournament was then postponed,” he said.

“We stuck with the same plan and strategy moving forward. Coming here to the  Tokyo Olympics Games we want to keep and embrace the Fijian style of play.

“We are sending the message to the  players that even if you are an experienced player or a new player, you have to  embrace the Fijian style of play.

“Just keep the ball alive, continue to apply the pressure and stay positive throughout the game to try to win. “That is a positive message imparted to the players during the training program for the past few months.  “They need to be positive, enjoy rugby by embracing the Fijian style of rugby.”

The Team Fiji women’s rugby 7s side finished in eighth position at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The side will face France in the opening match at 12pm on July 29 and then take on Canada at 7.30pm in the second fixture.
