The Maternal and Child Health Clinic (MCH clinic) will begin its operations at the Girmit Centre in Natokowaqa, Lautoka on Monday, May 17.

Head of the Emergency Medical Assistance Team (FEMAT) Dr Luke Nasedra said they have had to refer a few mothers who visited the FEMAT Field Hospital this week to Vidilo House.

“We do not do MCH clinic in this facility so we make contact with those at the Lautoka MCH Clinic and send them back to Vidilo House,” he said.

“We have been told in our meeting on Thursday that  they will begin MCH clinic at the Girmit Centre on Monday.”

Ministry of Health permanent secretary Dr James Fong said maternity care would also be done in the FEMAT Field Hospital while deliveries would be done on board the MV Veivueti and Viseisei Health Centre.

He added further care of sick mothers and babies would be done in the new Ba Hospital.
