Northern Division is COVID-19 contained, says Ministry of Health and Medical Services permanent secretary Dr James Fong.
Speaking during a news conference on Friday, he said it was the result of a massive COVID-19 testing and swabbing carried out in the division.
“We did an exercise at the beginning of this whole exercise and we are far more confident that the North is COVID-19 contained,” Dr Fong said.
“The main parameter is when we don’t get new cases in screening clinics.
“So the point I want to make here is that we are confident in the distribution of our clinics and swabbing that no more cases were reported.”
Chief medical adviser Dr Jemesa Tudravu said they had set up screening clinics in the community so people could report any symptoms of COVID-19 and not access hospitals directly.
“We are encouraging those who have symptoms to contact us immediately,” he said.
