Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says the ministry is working to vaccinate residents in aged care facilities around the country.
He said it was unfortunate that 20 COVID-19 cases were recorded at the Golden Age Home in Samabula, Suva. Dr Waqainabete said a majority of the residents have received their first jab.
“We’ve actually been working with the Ministry of Social Welfare and also aged care facilities and also those who look after the vulnerable people including Frank Hilton,” he said, adding there was a good uptake at the facilities.
“As the vaccination has arrived, we’ve targeted them.”
Dr Waqainabete said the ministry was working hard to ensure that residents in aged care homes were well looked after.
